MR. SIXTIES ETCHING

We're very pleased to release Crumb's new etching entitled Mr. Sixties. It was conceived and drawn for the cover of The Complete Crumb Comics series (Volume 4) in 1989. Crumb later modified it for a French publication more than 20 years later, and then modified it again for this etching edition. The guy can't help himself! 40 prints in the edition, with 5 printers proofs and 3 artist proofs. The Hahnemuhle archival paper is 13" x 13". The image size is 8.5" x 7.5".

Each print is numbered, dated, signed and titled in pencil by Crumb. Each etching is titled "Mr. Sixties" under the middle of each etching, between the number and his signature. Release date is December 7th.

This exclusive interview was conducted by phone between publisher Alex Wood and Robert Crumb in October, 2015. Alex asks Crumb about issues including the perception of racism in his work.

ARTIST'S PROOFS SALE

When Crumb was visiting the West Coast earlier this year, he visited his longtime girlfriend, Carol Vinson, to whom he had regularly sent each of his artist's proofs as a gift. He found them collected together in a large box in the corner of her apartment, and she informed him that she had no intention of framing them. So he sent them to me and told me to sell them for him. And that's what this sale is about: A one time opportunity to buy Crumb's artist proofs. This is the first set of proofs to be sold. A second set will be posted in 2016. These are all out of print, and all signed by Crumb, so they are truly collector's items.
